The Federal Work-Study Program

The Federal Work-Study program at Medaille College is designed to promote the part-time employment of college students who have demonstrated financial need and who require the wages from employment to pursue their degree.

Federal Work-Study

Employment under the Federal Work-Study program is awarded to students who indicate they are interested in the program on their FAFSA and have financial need. The amount earned will not be applied to your tuition bill but will be paid to you through a paycheck. After it is determined that you are eligible with financial aid, you must accept federal work-study on your award screen in Medaille360 and complete an application for a position listed in order to be considered for employment in the federal work-study program.

Residence Life Desk Assistant
The desk assistant will work with the Residence Director to make sure that residential mail and packages are picked up daily, sorted, placed in mailboxes, and available for students to pick up from the South Residence Hall front desk.

The desk assistant will also sit at the front desk of either North or South Residence Hall to verify those entering are residential students. The desk assistant will also verify guest passes for residents authorized to bring non-resident guests into the building.

Lastly, the desk assistant will answer general questions residents and guests may have, submit work orders for resident students, and checkout equipment to residents.

Peer Advisor, TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) Program
1. Greet and receive all guests entering the TRiO Engagement Center and ensure that all TRiO Participants sign in upon arrival and out upon departure
2. Provide exceptional customer service to program participants and answer basic questions
3. Share your strategies and experiences for success at Medaille University one-on-one, during workshops, and program recruitment and retention events
4. Engage with individuals at recruitment events to educate and register new participants for the TRiO SSS Program
5. Assist in the planning, set-up, presentation, and clean-up of TRiO workshops and events, confirm scheduled appointments with Student Success Advisors, and attendance at workshops and events
6. Assist with promotional marketing (social media/print)
7. Provide peer support to engage participants in program services and other campus resources
8. Responsible for clerical functions including answering and placing phone calls, filing, scheduling, collating, organizing, etc.
9. Participate in maintaining a friendly, organized, and clean office environment
10. Responsible for all other reasonable, related duties as assigned

7. Able to handle confidential information without incident.
8. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Excel software.
9. Complete all (paid) professional training with TRiO Staff

Athletics Game Day Staff
Athletics game day staff will assist the Sports Information Department in game day operations. Game day staff will be required to be at home games at both the Medaille Sports Complex and the Sullivan Center to assist in setup, in-game responsibilities, and breakdown. In-game jobs include scoreboard operator, video stream operator, ball people, shot clock operator, photography, book keeping, game calling assistance, etc.

Students interested in sports management/communication, or sports in general will gain valuable hands-on experience in collegiate athletics.
