Medaille Sports Complex Receives 2020 Brick by Brick Award From Buffalo Business First

Posted by Medaille University Office of Communications

The Medaille Sports Complex, along with South Buffalo Development LLC (an affiliate of OSC Holdings) and real estate developer Jon Williams, have won the Buffalo Business First 2020 Brick by Brick Award in the “Best Collegiate” category. The annual Brick by Brick awards ceremony brings together the Western New York commercial real-estate industry, including developers, architects, contractors and engineers, to recognize the very best in real estate, construction and development in the Buffalo Niagara region. The other finalists in the “Best Collegiate” category this year were the University at Buffalo Murchie Family Fieldhouse and the SUNY Fredonia Centre Point Dining Hall.

“We thank Jon Williams, Project Manager Tess Williams and everyone at South Buffalo Development for delivering a great facility that we can turn over to our athletes,” says Medaille College President Dr. Kenneth Macur. “The Complex has exceeded our expectations, and we are excited to see how it continues to create opportunities for both Medaille students and the Western New York community.”

Groundbreaking for the development of the Medaille Sports Complex, located at 427 Elk Street in South Buffalo, began in September 2018. Just one year later, the Medaille and Western New York communities came together to celebrate the grand opening of the Complex, which serves as the first official home of the Medaille Mavericks men’s and women’s soccer and lacrosse teams. The state-of-the-art facilities include a field with nearly 100,000 square feet of 2 ½ inch thick turf — the best concussion-rated product on the market, bleachers that fit 500 spectators, an LED-lit scoreboard and on-site parking. A 14,000 sq. ft. Athletics Administration Building also includes six locker rooms, a top-of-the-line strength and conditioning room, offices, meeting rooms and a concession stand.
