Men’s Soccer Team Earns AMCC Title, NCAA Tournament Appearance

Mavericks Men's Soccer team poses with an AMCC Championship trophyThe Medaille College Mavericks men’s soccer team finished the 2017 season with the College’s seventh Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship and a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Medaille earned the AMCC title with an overtime victory over the Penn-State Behrend Lions on November 4. The victory ensured an appearance in the NCCA Tournament against the No. 10 ranked Otterbein University Cardinals. Otterbein defeated Medaille, 2-0, in the game held in Westerville, OH, on November 11.

In addition to the conference championship, head coach Micky Blythe’s Mavericks earned seven selections on the AMCC All-Conference Teams. Named to the First Team were sophomores Mitchell Ali and Sam Beesley. Named to the Second Team were sophomores Lachlan Wilkinson and Anthony Marafioti, and freshmen Kyle Ferguson and Given Holy Gbode. Freshman Pablo Ballesteros was named to the Third Team.
