
New Student Academic Convocation Welcomes New Undergraduate Students & Marks the Start of the 2022-23 Academic Year

Medaille University’s 18th Annual New Student Academic Convocation was held on Saturday, August 27, marking the official start of the 2022-23 academic year. This special ceremony celebrated the official matriculation of the 2022 undergraduate entering class, and parents and families of new students were able to join in person or electronically, through a livestream of the event.
During the New Student Academic Convocation, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees and administration formally welcomed new students to the Medaille community. Interim President Lori V. Quigley, Ph.D., addressed students and their families, highlighting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s inspirational words that encourage people to take action today in order to build a better tomorrow.
Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs Vochita Mihai, Ph.D., Clinical Assistant Professor & Chair of Faculty Council Tanisha Joshi, Ph.D., Interim Vice President for Student Development Kenya K. Hobbs and Student Government Association President Gavin Janas also offered remarks to the incoming class. The Buffalo Brass Quintet led the processional and recessional of the platform party.

Convocation and commencement are the two ceremonies that bookend an undergraduate student’s time at Medaille University. The Medaille community is excited to welcome all new and returning students for the 2022-23 academic year.
