Szykowny '84 wins third Emmy

Michael Szykowny ’84, senior director of motion graphics and creative services at ESPNMichael Szykowny ’84, senior director of motion graphics and creative services at ESPN, won an Emmy for “Outstanding Live Event Graphic Design” at the 35th Annual Sports Emmy Awards. The Emmy was awarded for his work on the 2013 “X Games,” and he accepted it at the Lincoln Center in New York City.

This is the third Emmy he has won for the creative designs he does at ESPN. Past honors include “Outstanding Graphic Design” Emmys for ESPN2’s “Sports Nation” in 2010, and ESPN’s “ESPN25” in 2005.

Prior to working for ESPN, Szykowny directed the “Wake Up Show” for WIVB-TV Channel 4, and also directed sporting events, including Buffalo Sabres games at the Aud, for WGRZ-TV Channel 2.
