Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Kenya Hobbs uses the example of the popular song to illustrate the suppression, discouragement and denial that exist in American society. Whether it is the “Don’t Say Gay” bill or the economic and social disparities that exist among minority-owned businesses, ignoring the inequities does not help but rather furthers the marginalization and suppression.

Vet Tech Students Present $1,000 Donation to SPCA Serving Erie County

On May 4, Medaille vet tech students and representatives gathered at the SPCA Serving Erie County to present a $1,000 donation to benefit the nonprofit organization that assists nearly 12,000 animals each year in Erie County. The gift comes after Medaille’s Vet Tech Club led multiple fundraisers over the course of the spring semester.

Take Back the Night 2022

Medaille hosted its 2022 Take Back the Night event on Tuesday, April 19. The annual event, along with a corresponding student-led TikTok video competition, brings the Medaille community together to raise awareness for sexual and domestic violence prevention, with cohesive efforts to promote social justice and develop solutions.

Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Kenya Hobbs shares why he was moved to tears during the confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. “As I tried to make meaning of this moment, I was struck by the profound lesson that began to crystalize in my mind,” he says. “Here is the lesson: the power of being seen — truly being seen by another human being — is life affirming. It is simultaneously a simple and weighty act to acknowledge someone’s humanity, and to recognize, honor and connect with another person to tell them that they are worthy.”

Say Yes Medaille Presents $1,500 Donation to Big Big Table

On April 6, students and representatives from Medaille gathered at Big Big Table to present a $1,500 donation to benefit Buffalo’s first nonprofit, pay-as-you can café. The donation comes after students from Medaille’s Say Yes to Education program led a campus-wide bottle and can drive for two months to benefit the cause of addressing food insecurity within the Buffalo community.

The Medaille College Board of Trustees has elected Lawrence Hatcher to a four-year term, after a unanimous vote of all board members. He will serve as a trustee for the College from 2022 to 2026.

Medaille is excited to announce that its Board of Trustees has unanimously voted to support its transition to a university designation. Subsequently, the institution will be submitting a charter amendment request to the New York State Education Department, and upon anticipated application approval, will transition to Medaille University.
