Our community suffered a horrific tragedy on May 14, when a white supremacist gunned down 13 individuals, killing 10 and injuring three, at the Tops Markets on Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo. As Buffalo’s College, Medaille is here to support our students, faculty and staff, and our surrounding community, in the healing process during this difficult time.

Medaille College is excited to welcome Buffalo Bills Safety & All-Pro Jordan Poyer to its Buffalo campus on Thursday, May 26, for an exclusive community event focused on mental wellness and recovery from addiction.

In response to the current high demand for well-prepared educators, Medaille has developed education programs that make it as quick and easy as possible for prospective teachers to navigate the steps toward certification requirements in New York State or Ontario.

In addition to Medaille’s participation in the White House COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge, Medaille has announced an accompanying incentive challenge for all undergraduate, graduate and online students, in an effort to keep the College campus community safe and healthy. Medaille students can now unlock up to $30,000 in awards and scholarships by submitting COVID-19 vaccination records by August 9.

Medaille has received over $1.2 million in renewed grant funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), which will allow the College’s clinical mental health counseling students to continue to provide critical mental health services to medically underserved and at-risk populations within Buffalo, Rochester and the surrounding communities.

For the health and safety of every student, faculty and staff member, Medaille College is taking the White House COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge pledge and is committing to action. As part of this national #COVIDCollegeChallenge, Medaille is issuing a social media challenge to all students, faculty and staff, who can participate, now through August 9, to be entered into a drawing to win a $100 gift card.

As part of the Erie County Bicentennial Celebration, Medaille College is sponsoring a Parkside Walking Tour, which will be held on Sunday, June 13, at 10 a.m., and will be free and open to the WNY community. No registration is required, and all are welcome to come explore the history of one of Buffalo’s premier neighborhoods.

After experiencing much success with in-person classes and on-campus student activities during the 2020-21 academic year, Medaille College will continue to offer classes in person for undergraduate, graduate and post-traditional programs for the 2021 summer and fall semesters.

Medaille has received renewed federal funding for its TRiO Student Support Services Program, a student success program that has been serving Medaille students since 1980. The grant totals nearly $1.7 million, to be received over the next five years, allowing Medaille to serve 208 TRiO students per year.
