Buffalo City Mission Highlights Medaille Students’ Work as ‘Community Changers’
Students in Medaille’s “Children's Literature” course (ENG 375) recently visited the Buffalo City Mission to donate new reading materials to the after-school program and read to the children. As part of a semester-long Community-Based Learning Project, the students worked with assistant professor Dr. Alice Villaseñor (Division of Humanities) and Library Director Andy Yeager to research age-appropriate books to add to the materials used by LEAP (Literacy Enrichment Afterschool Program).
The Buffalo City Mission website called the Medaille students “Community Changers," explaining that “[e]ach student had the opportunity to present us with a piece of literature of her choosing and the reason she chose it. It was an inspiration. We are so thankful for nearly 25 new books to our collection for the kids!”
