#MavsSucceed Online: Associate Professor Lou Pozantides ’86 on Forming a Personal Connection With Students From Day One

#MavsSucceed Lou Pozantides Quote

The Medaille College community is known for its small-campus feel and individualized faculty/student connections. Similarly, communication program Associate Professor Lou Pozantides ’86 is known for going above and beyond to support each one of his students. Here, the longtime faculty member and alumnus speaks about the personal connection faculty and administrators form with students, and even their parents, from the time they first visit or apply to the College.

I recently have been in contact with a few incoming students who were originally going to sign at other colleges, but after meeting them and answering all of their questions, they will be coming to our home at Medaille. Department of Communication & Sport Studies Chair Lisa Marsherall provided valuable assistance in helping me show them that we truly do care for each one of our students. President Macur also took time out to respond to emails from their parents. To me, this all shows that even with this devastating virus, Medaille is the best choice for a great education in any program.

As the world faces unprecedented, challenging times, the Medaille community has come together in shared commitment to help our students successfully complete their education. Our students, faculty and staff have been helping each other navigate this new territory of remote teaching, learning and working, and many have shared anecdotes of encouragement and support.

The #MavsSucceed series shares some of these accounts and shines a spotlight on Medaille’s dedicated students, faculty and staff. See more features by visiting medaille.edu/mavssucceed or by following the College on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn.
