Medaille Professor Recognized as a Certified Trainer in Feedback Informed Treatment, Becoming One of Only 20 in the United States

Dr. Keith Klostermann

Internationally recognized behavioral couples therapy (BCT) expert and Fulbright Specialist Keith Klostermann, Ph.D., LMFT, LMHC, an assistant professor in Medaille’s master’s in marriage and family therapy program, has been recognized as a certified trainer in Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT). Feedback Informed Treatment is an evidence-based practice and pan-theoretical approach for evaluating and improving the quality and effectiveness of behavioral health services. It involves routinely and formally soliciting feedback from consumers regarding the therapeutic alliance and outcome of care and using the resulting information to inform and tailor service delivery.

In order to attain FIT certification, Dr. Klostermann had to participate in five multi-day, advanced level intensives over the past three years, pass a competency exam, and present a tape of himself conducting a FIT training. He is currently one of only 75 certified trainers in FIT worldwide and one of 20 in the United States.
