Name: Jonathan Gill ’07 MBAJonathan Gill
Vice President, Marketing Communications, Marketing Technologies of WNY, LLC
Why do you stay connected to Medaille? I worked there for four years in the mid-2000s – I loved the environment and volunteering to assist with several student activities like soccer and the newspaper. I also received my MBA and had a chance to teach at Medaille. So the place really became a part of my daily life. Today, I enjoy spending time with Dr. Jurasek and some of my fellow alums. And with the hardships that higher ed institutions are facing, I hope my volunteering adds value.
What do you enjoy most about being a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors? Hopefully making a difference, and I enjoy hearing about new initiatives for the campus.
What professor or class at Medaille stands out as a favorite, or as one that had a great impact? Walt Kolt. He taught me how to be a businessman, not just a worker.
What advice would you give to a current student? Get it done in four years then get a job. Wait on grad school until you’ve dipped your toes in the water and really know what you want to do.
What recent Buffalo development are you most excited about? Big Ditch Brewery
Last book you read: On Writing by Ernest Hemmingway.
Personal motto: Don’t let work over-stress you. At the end of the day, I’m lucky to have a loving family to go home to and they’ll love me the same no matter what happens at work.
My favorite holiday is: Founder’s Day. No seriously, with little kids, it’s Christmas. Hate the season, love the day.
Growing up, I wanted to be: Batman
For the best wings in Buffalo, I go to: Gabriel’s Gate
