Why do you stay connected to Medaille? Medaille College was the vehicle that allowed me the opportunity to pursue my dreams and take my career to levels I couldn’t imagine prior to becoming a student there. I stay connected because I enjoy paying it forward and the Alumni Board gives me the chance to help the college continue its mission of educating the future leaders of our region.
What do you enjoy most about being a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors? Medaille College is Buffalo’s College, and helping the students that come into the college from the city schools is very gratifying. I am an alumni mentor and I enjoy being able to help a student that has so much potential and only needs the guidance from someone who’s been there. I enjoy being the role model that will not only help them navigate through the academics of college, but also help them make good life decisions for their future. I am literally helping a student build the foundation for their life! What could be more important than that?
What professor or class at Medaille stands out as a favorite, or as one that had a great impact? I enjoyed so many classes and professors while at Medaille, that it would be hard to pick only one. However, when I think of an individual who stood out as a seasoned instructor who gave so much of himself to his students, I think of Bob Nesslin.
What advice would you give to a current student? Isolate your weaknesses and work hard to improve. It’s easy to stay in your comfort zone, but true growth comes from the risk of failure.
What recent Buffalo development are you most excited about? The development of the waterfront.
Last book you read: Good to Great by Jim Collins.
Personal motto: Help those who can’t help themselves and you will be helped.
My favorite holiday is: Independence Day
Growing up, I wanted to be: A police officer
For the best wings in Buffalo, I go to: Mammosers in the village of Hamburg.
