TRiO Student Support Services
If you are serious about earning a college degree, Medaille University's TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) program can help! TRiO SSS is a federally-funded program whose mission is to help eligible participants graduate with the grades and skills necessary for success. Students admitted to the TRiO SSS program receive free services above and beyond those available to the general University population. Medaille's TRiO SSS program has served more than 200 low-income, first-generation students per year, since 1980. We take an integrated approach, developing each participant's leadership potential over their time at Medaille.

How Does TRiO SSS Work?
What is TRiO SSS?
The mission of Medaille University’s TRiO Student Support Services is to improve persistence and graduation rates for eligible students so they can acquire a bachelor’s degree. Medaille’s program has been in place since 1980, serving 208 students each year. Our students have higher persistence and retention rates than Medaille’s general population of students. Over half of the student body is eligible for services, so students must apply and be admitted.
TRiO SSS: Our Focus
As a TRiO SSS participant, you will have access to free support services, above and beyond those offered to Medaille’s general population. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with a professional student success advocate, who will assist you in designing an academic success plan, tailored to fit your goals and dreams.

"TRiO is a safe place to go and study and interact with different people on campus. Everyone that works in the office is always willing to help me and makes sure that I am successful. I would not be the student I am today if it wasn’t for my TRiO counselor checking in and making sure I have everything I need to be successful. They have so many great resources for us that make my life so much easier knowing that if I do not have something, I can count on them. Whenever I don’t have a pen or need a good laugh I stop into the TRiO office."

"The TRiO Student Support Services Program has positively impacted my life by providing many tools to support achieving my educational goals while maintaining my status on the Medaille women’s bowling team. Many participants are happy with the free printing TRiO offers; however, I am grateful for all of the other opportunities I receive. Besides having a great working environment to complete schoolwork, TRiO also provides free access to an hour of tutoring per class per day to help you succeed. Flexible hours are also very beneficial for students like me with a rigorous schedule. It is nice to have the support from a staff member to talk to regarding academic support as well as a fellow upperclassmen who can give advice regarding classes, professors, and studying tricks. I enjoyed the opportunity to attend Money Monday Workshops, where I was educated on how to budget my money so I can be on the fast track of getting out of college debt. Without the support from the TRiO SSS Program I would have not passed my first semester at Medaille, let alone made the Dean’s List."
