Medaille Supports Fourth Annual WNY Children’s Book Expo and KidsLit Week

Medaille College is proud to be a collaborating sponsor for the fourth annual Western New York Children’s Book Expo (WNYCBE), which will be held at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 10. Medaille joins Read to Succeed Buffalo and Monkey See, Monkey Do … Children’s Bookstore in supporting the WNYCBE, along with presenting sponsor BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York.

Internationally recognized behavioral couples therapy (BCT) expert Keith Klostermann, Ph.D., LMFT, LMHC, an assistant professor in Medaille’s master’s in marriage and family therapy program, was recently interviewed for an article in Counseling Today, a monthly magazine published by the American Counseling Association.

This past week has been difficult for our entire Medaille Community. Sadly, a friend and Medaille student passed away. This was followed by an unrelated threat to the campus that necessitated an evacuation and created a tremendous amount of stress for all of us.

Dear Medaille Community,

Yesterday, Medaille College received a threat that prompted the closing of the College. The Buffalo Police Department has arrested the responsible suspect. With his identification and apprehension, we felt it was safe to reopen campus for normal activities today.

Medaille Professor Discusses Suspicious Packages Investigation on Local Radio

Steve MacMartin ‘13, director of Medaille’s homeland security program and a clinical assistant professor at the College, discussed how authorities will gather evidence in the October suspicious packages case during an appearance on WBEN-AM radio.

He told WBEN hosts Susan Rose and Brian Mazurowski that the number of packages — 10 at the time of MacMartin’s radio appearance — helps the investigation: “There is an increasing chance with every new package that there will be a clue somewhere.”

WIVB-TV Anchors Christy Kern and Dave Greber Visit Medaille to Speak to Broadcasting Students

WIVB-TV broadcasters Christy Kern and Dave Greber recently visited Medaille's Buffalo campus to speak to students in a COM 130 broadcasting class. Kern, a Western New York native, anchors the 4 p.m. and 6:30 news, and Greber anchors the “Wake Up!” morning news. The News 4 anchors shared their experiences and tips with the Survey of Broadcasting: History, Programming and Operations class.
